Sweat Circle Waiver of Liability Text

Part 1 for Everyone:

I have been informed and I understand that my participation in a Sweat Circle is a strenuous religious ceremony that may aggravate a number of medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiac or respiratory problems, high blood pressure, asthma, hepatitis, or cancer. I have also been warned that many medications for physical or mental problems are not compatible with a safe Sweat Circle experience; some prescription and non-prescription drugs may be adversely affected by the sweat lodge experience in ways including, but not limited to, exacerbation of medical side effects and recurrence of the symptoms that are being treated by the drug. I also recognize that, even if I am healthy, there are risks associated with the sweat lodge including, but not limited to, physical, emotional, and psychological stress and injury such as dehydration and heat exhaustion. I understand that by participating in the sweat circle ceremony, and/or being in the designated area for the ceremony, there is a risk of cuts and scrapes, foot injuries, broken bones, and burns.

Part 2 for people 18 and older:

I freely accept that my participation in the Sweat Circle Ceremony is at my own risk. By signing this waiver, I accept full responsibility for my own health and wellness, and verify that I am not under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances. I also agree that I do not hold the water pourer/facilitator, any sweat staff members or volunteers, the Free Spirit Alliance, or the staff and management of Camp Ramblewood liable for any harm or personal injuries (physical, mental, or emotional) that I may suffer while participating in a Sweat Circle at this Event. I further state that I have read the Sweat Circle behavior protocols and the instructions regarding how to have properly prepared myself for a sweat, and agree to abide by them. Finally, I certify that I am 18 or older.

Part 2 for people 15–17:

I freely accept that my participation in the Sweat Circle Ceremony is at my own risk. By signing this waiver, I accept full responsibility for my own health and wellness, and verify that I am not under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances. I also agree that I do not hold the water pourer/facilitator, any sweat staff members or volunteers, the Free Spirit Alliance, or the staff and management of Camp Ramblewood liable for any harm or personal injuries (physical, mental, or emotional) that I may suffer while participating in a Sweat Circle at this Event. Please note: If you're between 15 and 17,
your parent/guardian must also come with you to sign.
If you're 14 or younger, you may not participate in FSG sweats.
