Fires of Venus: Rules for the Fires

Fire Circles, when created intentionally for the purpose of sacred work, allow us to commune with Spirit and each other through play, healing, and ecstasy. In addition to the drum, dance, chant, play, and movement of the Fire Circle, the Fires of Venus add sacred sexuality as another dimension of the Fire Circle journey. Each night's fire offers a new spiritual path, a mirthful all-night prayer, and an opportunity to be fundamentally altered.

Temple of Venus Agreements:

• I acknowledge the Fire Circle as a sacred space and will treat it as such. I can respect the Fire Circle by entering through the smudge gate at the beginning of the evening. I will be respectful within the circle of prayer flags by refraining from idle conversation, taking photographs or video, drinking alcohol (except when offered by ritual facilitators), smoking tobacco, or burning trash in the fire. When in the Fire Circle's four temples, I will follow the posted rules and guidelines.
• I will help create a safe, fun, meaningful Fire Circle experience through my interactions with others. In the circle, I may play with forms of self-expression such as drumming, dancing, rattling, singing, chanting, toning, making love, or witnessing. I will help take care of others by offering water, food, acceptance, and patience. I will encourage others to do the same.
• I will help keep the Fires Circle burning. I know that the more I engage with the activities in the Fire Circle, the more the spirit of creativity can thrive. I will keep moving in the dance track, play an instrument when sitting in the drum area, and make good use of (without monopolizing) the BDSM or other furniture when I am on it. When I need a break, I can stand along the perimeter of tiki torches and “hold space” or take a seat on a blanket outside the circle of prayer ties.
• I will play well with others. I understand the importance of feeling safe and nurtured in this sacred Fire Circle space, particularly due to the sexual nature of this event. I will always ask permission before sexual engagement and be sure to follow any special posted instructions. I understand that event staff reserves the right to remove participants for disorderly or inappropriate conduct. I understand that I should talk to a staff member if I have witnessed or experienced such inappropriate conduct from others.
• I will protect the safety of myself and others. I understand that the house safeword is “red” and the caution word is “yellow.” I will not pursue illegal activities such as prostitution or illegal drug use. I will use safer sex practices for all sexual activities in shared space, including with my fluid-bonded partner(s). I will respect the event staff's authority to stop activities they deem unsafe.
• I will check in with event staff before engaging in dangerous activities. I understand that activities such as blood play or use of single-tail whips may be highly restricted to protect the safety of others in the Fire Circle, and I will talk to event staff if I would like to engage in such types of play.
• I understand these guidelines and agree to abide by them while at Fires of Venus. I understand that neither Free Spirit Alliance, Turtle Hill Events, their boards of coordinators, nor the management, owners, or operators of the facility, nor any agents, successors or assigns of any of the foregoing shall be liable to any attendee for injury to person or property incurred as a result of attendance at this event. I assume all risks incident to my attendance at this event.
