The Rituals

Opening Meeting/Ritual (Wednesday after dinner, Main Ritual Field) will begin with a procession; meet at Cabins S&T at 8:15p. Drummers and musicians are especially welcome to join the procession. Please bring water (in a cup or bottle) with you to opening ritual.

After we arrive at the Main Ritual Field and circle up, the FSG coordinator will introduce staff and make the usual opening announcements. Briar Rose folks will then cast the circle and set the space for the Gathering.

Main Ritual (Friday after dinner, MRF) will begin with a kids’ parade (again, please convene at Cabins S&T at 8:15p). The ritual will include a butterfly release. If you want to release your own butterfly, they’re $5, and vouchers for them will be available from your friendly Amber Rose person at check-in or the Camp Store.

The chant for the ritual:

We are the fathers, we are the sons; ancestors we have become
We are daughters, we are the moms; our traditions we carry on
We are the boys, we are the girls; we are the future of our worlds

At the end of the ritual, we’ll process down to Fire Circle.

At Closing Ritual (Sunday 11:30a, TBA), we’ll be planting a tree that we can watch grow for the next 25 years. The location is To Be Announced! Please check the Addenda & Errata at Check-in, the Dining Hall, or the Bulletin Board (on Merchant’s Row) for the location of Closing Ritual.

Ritual Presenters

Lady Emerald has been practicing the craft since 1989. She is a 3rd degree elder of of the Circle of Amber Rose and Keeper of the Keys of Zetie. She is the High Priestess of the the Circle of Briar Rose (a daughter Coven of the Circle of Amber Rose).

Lady Persephone has been practicing the craft since 2003. She is a 2nd degree elder of the Circle of Briar Rose. Lady Persephone also is a Druid of the Faery Faith Tradition.

Amber Rose coven was formed in 1989 by its matriarch Lady Amber, who is the driving force behind the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at FSG. Briar Rose was one of Amber Rose’s first hives, and we’ve grown into a family of five covens who practice the eight sabbats together. While a lot of newly formed covens leave their mother coven, the Amber Rose family is extraordinary in that we continue to work together even after hiving—we enjoy spending time with each other that much.

It has been a privilege for us to work with FSG over the years, and we consider it a great honor to be able to put together the rituals for FSG’s 25th year.
