Adaptations: The Extraordinary Properties of Ordinary Things - Tannin Schwartzstein aka The Pink Sphinx
When we think of the "shamans and healers of old," the Pagans of today tend to romanticize and envy their intimate relationship with their environment, and the materials we imagine were at hand. The 21st century magickal practitioners, like their predecessors need to learn to make good use of the resources their surroundings offer, regardless of whether they are among trees and mountains or asphalt and skyscrapers. Crystals and feathers are often hailed for their "magickal properties," yet the energetic traits of glass and plastic may be equally or more useful for the task at hand! In this workshop, author and artist Tannin Schwartzstein will talk about working with the energies of natural and artificial materials for healing, spirit work and other "shamanic" purposes.

ADF Summer Solstice Ritual - Makee Takee Team
Come join ADF Druids in celebrating the Summer Solstice (we don't draw circles). This ritual is open to all pagans/pagan-friendly folk. There will be a pre-ritual briefing for those who have never been to an ADF ritual. We do not operate on Pagan Standard Time, so don't be late! [Teen-appropriate]

Alchemical Fire Ritual - Alchemical Fire Team
"We bring a new way to walk on the Earth." Alchemical Fire Rituals create the opportunity to experiment with your consciousness at the fire. Our basic agreement within this space is to make room for each other's gifts and offerings. To share and care for each others magickal moments by always being response-able within the circle. In this ritual, we balance the parts of the fire circle with each other. Making space for story and song, movement and stillness, music and silence, we create a space where all voices can be honored and heard. A space where it is safe to experiment with new ways of being present in the moment.

Wednesday and Thursday nights, all adepts, novices, and seekers are invited into our Laboratory of Consciousness to experiment with the experience of the Present Moment. Sharing music, song, stories, dance, art, and stillness, we will explore the mystery of the Now and magick of transformation contained in each moment. In the firelight, beneath the moonlight, what transformation is waiting for you?

Alchemical Rhythmatism - Mike Miller & Whittney Matlock
Ever left a drum circle because you couldn't hear your own drum over the angry, loud, fast RATTA-TAT-TATTA-TAT-TAT-TAT of some Djembe Cowboy parked next to you for 4 hours? Every wanted to chant, speak a poem or play a "quiet" instrument like a bodhrain or a flute at the Fire Circle? Come with us...

Alchemical Rhythmatism (AR) is a simple set of signals and agreements used by people in the Alchemical Fire Rituals to communicate quickly and easily with each other, while playing, so that everybody has a chance to be heard and share their magick at the fire.

Everybody will learn the signals and agreements used in AR during the first part of this workshop and then spend the rest of the time having fun playing with them. Bring your favorite drum, percussion, or other instrument to class and let's make some magick together.

Before and after circle, some pre-printed materials may be available for a small donation. Papers and note-taking during circle are not permitted as this sorely distracts from the task at hand and does not work. American Flag Decommissioning and Memorial - Sheriff Scott
This is a Flag Decommissioning service and Memorial for all of our Men and Women who have inspired us, protected us, and helped us keep what is precious to ourselves—even at the cost of what is precious to them. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, Coast Guard, Fire, EMS, Police: people who often receive little or no thanks for the sacrifices they give, professionals even if it's not their primary occupation. This is a time for all FSG people to bring their American flags and those of any friends, neighbors, or family members who need them disposed of in the proper way, in reverent flame. There will be an Honor Guard composed of FSG staff and attendees alike; anyone who wishes to honor these selfless men and women may join us. Last of all, we will be asking everyone who places a flag into the flame to shout out to someone, here or in the next life, that is deserving of the honor we are giving. If you do not have a name that comes to mind, we will have a list of names of fallen Soldiers, Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers and Emergency Medical Personnel.

Please bring only cotton or other natural-fiber flags. If you have a nylon (or polyester or unidentifiable) flag, please take it to your local Fire Department, American Legion Post, Boy Scout, or Girl Scout troop. [Teen-appropriate]

Beginning Shamanic Healing: Extraction - Caroline Kenner
Extraction is a common shamanic healing protocol found in many cultures. Extraction is the removal of spiritual parasites, which range widely in size and complexity. At the lower levels of the continuum, the parasites are non-sentient and are merely looking for a warm, wet place to dwell. They often gather where our etheric bodies are poorly aligned, where our chakras are damaged or stuck, where we have been physically injured and where we have had surgery. It is these intrusions you will learn to remove in this workshop. There are numerous ways to remove annoying etheric limpets. We magical people are especially apt to walk around with a few travelers on us if we don't clean each other occasionally. Join us for a series of journeys to find our extraction allies, followed by a series of partner exercises designed to teach you beginning extraction. You will be introduced to a number of intrusion detection and removal techniques, and also learn ways of managing the intrusions after removal. [Teen-appropriate]

Beyond the Cards and Runes: The Next Steps in Divination - Scott Mohnkern
Learning the meanings of Tarot Cards, or the runes, or any divination system is only the first step. Those who truly make reading an integral part of their life go beyond just what they see on the table, to the whole experience. Here, Scott will talk about the 'external' factors of divination, such as communion with the gods and connecting to the person we're doing a reading for to improve our overall skills.

He will bring drum shells, solid steel rings, cloth, and skins. In part 1 of this 2 part workshop, we will choose a skin, soak it, choose cloth, wrap the 3 steel rings, and learn how to tie the carriage ropes. We will lace the rings together, put the head on, set the head, and snug the vertical ropes. We'll then leave the drum to dry until Friday. You can see various kinds of drums you can build at Imagicka. If you want to build a, you must make arrangements with Rob ahead of time: send email to drumiac at hotmail dot com. [Teen-appropriate]

Build Your Own Drum II - Rob Wandell
Now that the heads have had time to dry, we'll do coarse and then fine tuning. Coarse tuning includes pulling the verticals and leveling the head and rings. Then, we'll apply fine tuning. You will learn the reverse mali weave method of fine tuning, and what to listen for to make sure that your drum is tuned properly. [Teen-appropriate]

Care and Feeding of Horses: Stewardship for the God-Possessed - Tannin Schwartzstein aka The Pink Sphinx
In some traditions, the Gods and spirits are not content to only communicate with humans through means such as prayer and omens. They are believed to temporarily displace a person's psyche and "borrow" his or her body. In Vodoun, this practice is known as Horsing; in Wiccan Traditions, this is sometimes referred to as Drawing Down. In this unusual workshop, author Tannin Schwartzstein will discuss various aspects of acting as a steward to the god-possessed in varying circumstances, including preparing the physical space, ministering to a "horse," and interacting with onlookers.

Communicating With Deity Part I: Do You Hear What I Hear? - Hillary J. Gross
What do people mean when they say they've talked to or seen a deity? How do you reconcile your grounding in western science with the (sometimes ungrounding) spirituality you're exploring now? Why do you perceive nothing when others swear they've heard/felt/seen a spirit or god? Shifting your mindset to include not just believing in, but also communicating with, deity and other spirits is a huge challenge for those of us raised in the western world. This workshop will propose a general cosmological framework for how the gods and other spirits operate, as well as exploring ways to perceive them. [Teen-appropriate]

Are you looking to connect with the divine but have no idea where to start? The second of our Communicating with Deity workshops will focus on helping you figure out where to look for divine inspiration. Conspire-Ring - Mike Miller & Whittney Matlock
Conspire: (verb) to act or work together toward the same result or goal. From con - "with" + spi-ra-re - "to breathe." Literally, "to breathe with."

In an Alchemical Fire Ritual, the basis of all our magick is the act of conspiring for the highest good of everyone in the circle. This part of the magick starts early in our process. Together we conspire to construct our ritual site. Together we conspire to create rituals and offerings at the fire. Together we conspire to be present for the magick we create.

Our Alchemical Conspire-Ring is a time set aside for your alchemist to join other alchemists in setting up our laboratory (ritual space) for the evening and sharing ideas and inspirations to be used in the lab that night. Everyone is encouraged to bring decorations, tools, ideas, and inspirations to this session. We'll use this time to build the perfect environment for the magick we will bring to the fire that night. Spend some time brewing your experiment and distilling your ideas with those you will share space with at the fire. The investment of your effort makes all the difference in the world to your experience in the ritual.

Conversations with Rocks: An Exploration of Gemstones - Kayla
In this workshop, you'll come face to face and finger to facet with a number of semi-precious gemstones. We'll pass around gemstones, discuss their properties, and discuss their history and lore—both mundane and magical. You'll learn about the Mohs hardness scale and its implications for gemstone care and handling. This is an introductory session for people who are just starting to explore gemstones, and a good exploration for anyone participating in the Craft Your Own Ritual Jewelry workshop. [Teen-appropriate]

Craft Your Own Ritual Jewelry - Kayla
My tradition is specific about what types of jewelry may be worn into circle. Is yours? In this hands-on workshop, I will help you create your own unique article of ritual jewelry to your own specifications, such as an amber necklace for a new initiate, a witch's ladder, or a single, continuous strand of any gemstone you choose. We will create sacred space, and string our own pieces within it, charging them with our intention. Class size is limited to 12; there will be a signup sheet posted. Please stop by my booth (My Little Pretties) at least one day before class to discuss your project and ensure that it can be completed with the materials available in camp. There will be a $5 materials fee to cover the cost of stringing materials and any notions required. You provide your own beads and a clasp if you want one. You may purchase them in advance from any of the vendors on site, or bring your own from home. Max class size: 12; Materials fee: $5.00. [Teen-appropriate]

Calling all Teens: Come join us for a night of Rock and Roll. Leave the parents outside and come here to hide. [Teens-only]

Dancing with Deity: Rumba and Cha-Cha - Lord Fairy Bottom
Rumba and Cha-Cha are the vertical expression of a horizontal wish. These two Latin dances give meaning to the word romance. Rumba is a slow dance that allows two people to join with a certain symbiosis. Each partner accents the other as they move in harmony with each other. Cha-Cha is a quicker dance, but still with a specific rhythm of motion. The partnership of two people glides across the floor in a unison pattern. We'll spend an hour on each dance style. There is no prerequisite for these dance classes. We will compare how our physical bodies join together in harmony that parallels how Deity moves in mystery.

Dancing with Deity: Swing and Hustle - Lord Fairy Bottom
Swing began as a lively dance in the 1950s and 60s from the more conservative Fox Trot. As the music progressed with the times, so did the dance. There are several styles of Swing dancing, from triple time, to single time and from Lindy Hop (like the Charleston) to a West Coast style. Swing can be danced to practically any type of music, from that of the 1950s to more modern styles. We will cover the basics of Triple Time Swing, and perhaps West Coast, as the first hour progresses. In the 1970s, swing evolved into a new style of dance called the Hustle. We'll spend an hour on each. There is no prerequisite for these dance classes. We will compare how our physical bodies join together in harmony that parallels how Deity moves in mystery.

Dealing With Deities: The Many Pagan Experiences of God(s) - Raven Kaldera
An exploration of Pagan theology, including comparisons of different views of the Gods in different traditions. Are you a polytheist (hard or soft), a pantheist, a panentheist, an archetypist, theistic or atheistic? How do the Gods manifest in the world? How do They make contact with human beings? If you're not sure what all that means, that's OK—we'll explain! This is a workshop with additional moderated discussion; please come prepared to be courteous and respectful.

Developing Your Metaphoric Language - Wintersong Tashlin
"But if Herald Vanyel and Harry Dresden can see energy, why can't I?" It's a question that many of my students have asked, and it isn't a bad one. Fantasy novels and television aren't the only place that we get the idea that we need to see energy; many books and classes teach from the perspective that one needs to see energy to work with it. The sad truth is that for many of us, sight isn't the way that we perceive the flow of energy. This class will teach students how to identify how they best sense energy, whether sight, texture, tone, temperature, or whatever works for them. As part of this process we'll talk about how we can talk about energy with each other if I perceive energy as temperature gradients and you perceive it as different textures or something no one has ever thought of. Max class size: 25. [Teen-appropriate]

Divination with the Younger Futhork - Miki Tracey

Miki will show a few of the sort that you can spend time on creating and give people information on how to make their own. The students will create a simple set of runes. Finally, the class will do a sample reading and then form groups to read for each other. Materials fee: $2.00. [Teen-appropriate]

They are a lot of fun for free-form dancing, traditional staff moves, and creating more advanced geometric shapes. In this workshop, we will be focusing on moves that can also be spun on poi, like the one and two beat, the butterfly, and buzz saw. We will also cover how to spin on different planes and honing in on symmetry. This workshop is open to beginners, and covers the basic move structures for more advanced double staff play.

Elemental Herbal Energetics - Raven Kaldera
A "Pagan Herbalism 201" class, for those who already have some grounding in herbalism. Both herbs and physical ailments can be divided by the elements, according to energy, taste, and action. This class will discuss how to find the right herb for the job, and how to tell if it will work for the body in question. Derived from old European herbalism and some spirit-taught traditions, this will illuminate herbalism as much more than just a "cookbook" of plants.

Energy Rhythms and Meditation - Miki Tracey
This workshop uses Exercise, Drum Rhythms and meditation to loosen and feel the flow of energy in the world around us. The class combines yoga-like exercises with energy motivating dance, energy capturing guided meditation and unguided Energy Meditation. Participants of any level should bring a mat, blanket or towel and be prepared to really move.

An Exploration of Pattern Magic - Wintersong Tashlin
The whole world works in patterns that echo each other throughout nature and reality. The cracks in ice as it warms on a frozen lake and the pattern of a dragonfly's wing are remarkably similar when looked at in the correct scale, as are the burnt ruts that a fire leaves in a log and the topography of the Grand Canyon. Energy moves and behaves in the same kinds of patterns, and a magician who is observant and creative can use these natural tendencies to their advantage. In this class, students will learn about how to see the patterns in nature and use them in crafting magic that is more stable and uses less energy. Max class size: 25. [Teen-appropriate]

We will also work to develop techniques for singing both dynamically and with dynamics as we learn a three-part harmony song in Macedonian. This is a beautiful and fun song that everyone can learn and perform together in glorious, harmonious sound. As with the second Sacred Voice workshop, participants who complete this workshop will be eligible to perform this piece as the opening act at one of the evening performances. Both the Beginning and Intermediate Find Your Sacred Voice classes are prerequisites. Max class size: 50; Materials fee: $3.00. [Teen-appropriate]

Find Your Sacred Voice: Beginning - Izolda
A workshop on discovering the sacred joy of singing. The voice, being our first instrument, has the greatest physical, emotional and spiritual connection to our body. Throughout the ages, people have used song both to express themselves and to connect with the sacred. And yet, usually, we sing without first establishing the crucial connection between breath, body, and voice. Or perhaps we are afraid to sing because we fear that we can not sing. Using stretches, and physical and vocal exercises and techniques, this workshop will focus on the connecting the body to the breath, the breath to the voice, the voice to the song and the song to the spirit. We will also attempt to increase the comfort level with vocalizing and develop some listening skills to aid in feeling joyful about singing both individually and with others. The participants will also receive a vocal skills practice CD to help them keep the connection with their singing voice long after the workshop is over. In this workshop, learn:

Finally, we'll put techniques into practice by learning and singing a chant. Max class size: 50; Materials fee: $3.00. [Teen-appropriate]

We will also delve further into the connections between the voice, communication, and yoga. Participants will also receive a full syllabus as well as an additional voice practice CD to further develop their singing voices. This workshop is open to any participants who have completed the first workshop either this year or previous years. As a special bonus, participants will have the opportunity to highlight what they have learned as an opening act for one of the music acts at the main dance pavilion. Max class size: 50; Materials fee: $3.00. [Teen-appropriate]

What is community? Come join Scribble during the week to help create a quilt (or quilts!) celebrating the idea of the FSG community. You will have the opportunity to create a decorated quilt square that will become part of a quilt or wall hanging, which will be auctioned off next year to support the FSG College Scholarship program. If you like, Scribble will you as needed with painting, embroidery, appliqué, and other techniques, or you can just plop down and have at it! The quilt project will be set up all week, and Scribble will be in residence at least 2 hours every day for advice and assistance. This is an opportunity for those of us, who lead Pagan groups to share the joys and woes and unique challenges we face. People new to Pagan leadership can get input from seasoned veterans, people suffering burnout can seek rejuvenation, and we can all find the camaraderie and connections that we need. This is a facilitated open discussion. We will have a small agenda, if roundtable discussions require it. A brief hand-out will be provided. [18+]

Some people are happy without a reason. They have a higher happiness set point that other people. But this is not all genetics; your set point can be changed! We will do some exercises for raising our in built-in happiness set point from the book Happy for No Reason by Marci Shimoff. Happy people are more fulfilled, relaxed, and peaceful—and they live longer and earn more money! Learn the practical strategies to help you experience happiness from the inside out. Hermes Council - Bill aka Fàidh
Men and women are different. Though we share a common spiritual ground, there are Women's Mysteries and Men's Mysteries that can be experienced separately. The Hermes Council is a men's-only spiritual group. It complements the shared spirituality of men and women by offering men a separate space to address their spiritual needs. The rituals and practices of the Hermes Council are based on Wiccan and Native American traditions, and will probably be familiar to you. What is unique about us is the degree of honesty and communication that we share in our ritual space.

After a short (10–15 minute) introduction, we will perform a ritual in the Hermes Council tradition. The ritual will include a council, where we'll pass around a talking stick and give every participant a chance to speak. Please feel free to bring drums and other musical instruments, cups for juice or seltzer, and any other ritual equipment with which you are comfortable (e.g., athames). Once we have defined our sacred space and cast our circle, we will be reluctant to allow latecomers to enter. Please be on time. [Teen-appropriate]

Through ritual, play and short interactive exercises, we will explore the most important parts of our relationships with Element Money and decide whether we want to change them—and if so, how. Together, we will begin building new relationships that can do a better job of sustaining us in times of need and retaining the respect and friendship of this powerful Element. This workshop will not focus on talking about financial facts, although we will do some exploration of what a healthy relationship looks like. Sandbox Exploration - Michelle Zee
Do you want to have clearer boundaries? Are you afraid to ask for what you want? Do you get anxious that you won't say no when you want to? Saying or hearing No can be hard at first, so we will loosen up first with some body movement exercises!

Sandbox Explorations gets its name from the idea that when we take responsibility for establishing clear personal boundaries, it makes it safer for us and others to play together in a safe, authentic way. More connection, joy, and intimacy result. So, if I tell you some clear basic ground rules about what it takes for me to feel safe in my own virtual sandbox, than you can safely get close to me and I can safely open to you.

The Blue Star tradition emphasizes service to the Gods as an initiate's duty. We serve in many ways. Where are the Wiccan Care Committees? What volunteer opportunities exist for Earth-centered people? This networking session will include short presentations by three Blue Star witches who find different ways to walk their talk. Sabrina Mari will discuss her work with people living with HIV and AIDS. Beth will discuss her time as a hospital chaplain working with Pagan patients as well as others. Kayla will discuss her work in environmental education, conservation and advocacy. We hope to come away from this discussion with a list of volunteer opportunities in our communities. Shamanic Healing Ceremony - Caroline Kenner
In this ceremony, Caroline will sing to her healing spirits, and welcome them into our circle, as the group silently invokes their own helping spirits. Then, merged with her spirit allies, Caroline will provide shamanic healing to everyone in the circle, within the limitations of time and energy. The intent of these group workings is to perform as much healing as possible for each person in the circle. The spirits will choose who receives which aspects of shamanic healing. The three major shamanic healing protocols are extraction, soul retrieval and power animal retrieval. Other possible healings are the lifting of bad magic and depossession. Shamanic healing has survived every human cultural shift from the Neolithic through the Industrial Revolution and into post-Modernism for one reason: shamanic healing works. If you choose to attend this ceremony, you will find that miracles of healing are a distinct possibility. [Teen-appropriate]

Trance Possession Rite for the Spirits of Summer - Firesong
The Universal Temple of Spirits presents a service for the Spirits of Summer. For the Solstice, we honor the Spirits of Summer with drumming, dance, song, and art. The service begins with a sung litany prayer to set the space. And then the drums start. The singing and dancing continues throughout, and we call our Spirits into ourselves to share our celebration. This is an open circle; you may join late or leave early (although you'll probably miss some good stuff if you do). An outside grounding/processing space staffed skilled by possession workers will be available. This is a Pantheistic working, so we will honor Spirits from around the globe and sing in their native languages when possible. Please note that this is not an open drum circle; it is a possession-based working. The more active your participation, the more exciting the service, so... Please bring:

You may wish to dress in the colors of the Spirit you'll be honoring. Donations of food, drink, or money for supplies are appreciated, but not mandatory.

The Universal Temple of Spirits is a celebratory group practicing in the Global Spirits tradition. The celebrations welcome all Spirits from around the globe in love. Rituals are theme-based, rather than pantheon-based, and incorporate what we have in common as humans: shared food, dance, song, drumming, art, and possession trance. Global Spirits is a harm-none tradition. People under 21 may attend, but they may not imbibe; noone is required to partake of alcohol. [21+] [Teen-appropriate]

Transform Your Life with Earth, Air, Fire, and Water - Izolda
What if you could:

With Life Elements, you can! In Astrology, Ayuerveda, and Native American spirituality, the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water play a large role in determining personality characteristics. For example, a person may be an Air sign (and therefore thought and reason oriented) however, the Life Elements System proposes that simply knowing your status is only the first step in creating a full and well-rounded life. The Life Elements workshop takes the process one step further by not only allowing individuals to assess themselves and their current status with the Element Designation Assessment Tool but also giving missions and quests to develop and/or balance all four elements. It is only with access to the strengths and characteristics of all four elements that we can live, act, and react in the world from a well-rounded and joyful place. In this workshop, we will take a truncated Element Designation Assessment Test (the full EDAT is available online and in the book), and we will assess each individual's element designations. Once those are established, we will develop a methodology that will allow participants to stabilize and then increase their connection to the elements they need in order to help them become fully well-rounded in all four elements and then therefore possess the ability to access each whenever it is needed. We will then complete a mission to each of the Elements to start everyone on their path of full Elemental Integration. Max class size: 50. [Teen-appropriate]

Turning the Interior Wheel: Pagans and Prayer - Alex Bettencourt
As pagans of all stripes, we hold innumerable types of rituals and celebrations to honor our deities—but do we pray? If we do, how do we pray? If we don't, why not? Is there a right or wrong way to pray as a pagan? Does prayer have a part in modern paganism or are we "doing it wrong?" Come learn about historical approaches to prayer and how some pagans honor their gods and goddesses through divine conversation. We'll look at the historical record and representation of pagan prayer, talk about why we pray (or why we don't), challenge our assumptions about what prayer means, and explore how we interact with the divine within our own experience and tradition. All faiths and paths welcome! [Teen-appropriate]

Walking Down Another's Road: Working Outside of Your Pantheon - Wintersong Tashlin
Some of us work within a specific pantheon and some of us don't. Either way, there's a really good chance that at some point we're going to be in a situation where the gods and traditions we need to be working with are not our own. Perhaps a deity you have no familiarity with wants you to do something for them, maybe a big something. Or a client or friend who's background and practices are alien to you needs some kind of assistance or counseling that only you can provide. It's also possible that you don't have a pantheon, or your god wants you to work outside of their historic background and lore. What do you do? How do you adapt your ways, and when do you dig in your heels? How do you talk to other people about what your, and maybe their gods want you to do. In this class we'll talk about our experiences and discuss strategies for managing and thriving in these situations. Max class size: 25.

What is an Alchemical Fire Ritual? - Mike Miller & Whittney Matlock
Alchemy is the art and science of transformation. Alchemists apply the Hermetic law of "As above, so below. As below, so above" to their observations of the process of transformation. At an Alchemical Fire, our experiment is to bring all the tools at hand (the fire, drums, voices, bodies, spirits, etc) into balance. Then we experiment with as many different combinations of these tools as we can imagine. Moving from one mixture of components to another, we experience the process of transformation. Practicing transformation allows us to master the art transforming from experience to experience and state to state. This knowledge of transformation unlocks the secrets to our philosopher's stone, the key to personal transformation.

To work together effectively in our Alchemical Laboratory around the fire, we have some agreements for how we share and use the space. The conspire-ring is a time to learn about those agreements and the metaphors, symbols and processes we use to accomplish this amazing work. If you are interested in joining in on the work, fun and excitement of the Alchemical Fire Ritual, we encourage you to discover the secrets of our art of transformation.
