Northern-Tradition Sauna Ritual - Joshua Tenpenny (Northern-Tradition (Norse/Germanic); Very Hot; Mugwort will be used to 'smudge' participants and the space. Pine, Birch, and Juniper oil will be used in the water.)
This will be a 3-round sauna, invoking the creation of the world through the collision of Muspellheim, the World of Fire, with Niflheim, the World of Ice. The first round celebrates the Creation, honoring Ymir and Surt. The second round honors the Community, and birch whisks will be availible for purifying flagellation. Hindu Healing Sweat - Ishanti33 (Sun Bear; Very Hot; Sage, lavendar, copal. Maybe a few others; will ask group's permission first.)
In this sweat, we will start in the North/Earth welcoming in Ganesa (the God of Wisdom, Ganesa is usually called upon before going on a journey, and to overcome difficulties.) We will be going on a healing journey. Next we will call in the directions and our prayers will reflect them. We will have three directions of prayer for healing of ourselves. In the direction of west, as water flows so do our prayers for others. Come expecting some deep healing and to hear the beautiful music of singing bowls. Fri 10:15a–12:15p
Elemental - Buffalo (Wiccan; Very Hot)
Generally, the sweat is four rounds and the focus is meditation/prayer/healing. Guides include spirits of the land and/or deities that are invited during that particular ritual. Fri 3:00p–5:00p
Welcome - West (Plains; Mild/Medium; Sage)
Plains-style sweatlodge: relaxing, focusing, and invigorating. We'll honor the lodge, ancestors, and land. This will be intended as gentle and refeshing, for those of us (including me!) who don't perform this ritual regularly. Expect 1-1.5 hours; bring 2 towels, Water, and a totem object for blessing. Attend skyclad or in loose wrap, like a robe or sarong. On the day of the sweatlodge, don't have any alcohol beforehand, and drink a liter of water prior to the sweatlodge start time. We will talk a bit beforehand and I'll explain the sweatlodge fully. The group will guide how I conduct the pour. Sat 10:15a–12:15p
Ogoun Sweat - Firesong (Eclectic/African Spirituality; Hot; Pine, copal, cedar (or tobacco), and woodruff. Home-grown, pesticide free tobacco may be used, if all agree)
Ogoun Sweat: The fires of Midsummer blaze. Ogoun's boundless energy calls us to the woods, to physical activity, to work fire and to sweat. The Spirit of Evolution, Ogoun is an ancient and adaptable Spirit, perhaps the oldest of the West African Spirits. In 4 rounds, we'll honor, sing and pray to Ogoun in his aspects of provider, guardian, healer and craftsman. Sat 2:00p–4:00p
