FSG Art: Compass Rose & Masks

FSG XXII: Main Ritual

Friday 8:30p, Main Ritual Field
Procession begins 8:15p at the Horseshoe

The theme of our gathering this year is Masks.

We all wear masks; we present different faces depending on the context, the social space, and the various environments we move though.

In our main ritual this year, we're going to make some conscious choices about the masks we wear and the faces—or perhaps the masks—behind those masks. For this, you will need two masks.

The first mask is the symbol of an attribute you want to let go of, or a burden you want to lay down. The second mask represents an attribute you'd like to keep, or enhance, or take up.

Mask blanks and supplies will be available in the back of the dining hall starting Wednesday evening, and Stacia will be facilitating 2 sessions of mask-decorating, one Thursday at 2:00p, one Friday at 10:00a. Please stop by and decorate your masks sometime before Ritual on Friday evening.

After the ritual is complete, we will process down to the fire circle and give the masks that symbolize those discarded parts to the fire.

NB: It's important that the masks to be given to the fire be safely burnable, i.e. paper or wood and decorated only with pens, pencils, or markers. If you have your own mask that you'd like to give to the fire, please check it with one of the fire tenders beforehand.

We would like to thank Larry Wood of Fantasy Masks for the gracious loan of the masks worn by the Elements.
