About Sweat Circles

There are some things you should know about how our Sweat Circles operate.

• You must sign up in advance. Sign-up times are listed in the grid above.
• Please bring a water cup/bottle and towel(s) to all sweats.
• If you want to participate in a sweat, we request that you sign up for a 90 minute sweat work shift. This is in addition to your regular gathering community service. Please sign up to work when you sign up for your sweat.
• It is appropriate to prepare yourself for your sweat as you would for any deep ceremony. Because sweats detoxify physically, additional recommended preparations include abstaining from many addictive behaviors for 24 hours before and after your sweat. This is especially true of behaviors with substances that dehydrate (such as alcohol, coffee, and chocolate) or that are mind-altering in ways that interfere with your connection to yourself and to spirit.
• Be absolutely, positively on time (sorry, no pagan time here).
• If you're attending the whole Gathering, please consider signing up for a sweat on Thursday or early Friday.

About the Paths of Service Track

The Paths of Service Track: Teachers, Healers, Guides and Clergy.
This track is an expansion of the Priest/ess Track offered last year. This year's track is designed to enhance the skills of those in service to our community and to provide them with a variety of resources to assist them in their work. If your path is one of service, we invite you to participate in this track, learn new techniques, and share your own ideas and experiences in a variety of workshops, lectures and discussions. These classes are open to anyone at any level of experience, affiliated with a group or solitaire, traditionalist or eclectic, who is interested in pursuing (or already walking) a Path of Service. There are no other prerequisites for these classes, and you are free to attend any or all of the classes as you wish.

About the CoDE Daily Offerings

The members of the Circle of Dark Eros (CoDE) will present a series of short rituals and meditations. Our intent is to create a space to help folks enjoy daily community ritual during the run of this year's Festival. We will meet for the first 30 minutes of each scheduled meal beginning with Thursday Breakfast, after Opening Ritual creates space the event. We ask that folks be on time to attend our offerings. We want to respect the time of those who are on the meal plans and finish on time. The rituals/meditations will vary from offering to offering. We hope to give you some new experiences of ritual and some new looks at old ones.

About the Fire Circle

FSG is blessed with people from many different paths, and each person brings a different perspective and means of participation to the circle. Please respect other people's ways of respecting the fire and the space, and please respect the space:

• Don't bring glass or aluminum to the fire circle at all, please.
• Don't try to jump the fire. Really. Trust us on this.
• Please do not step into the pit itself unless you are fire circle staff.
• Don't let trash hit the ground. There will be trash can(s), recycle bin(s) and sand cans for cigarette butts.
• Ritual to the fire--libations, small objects for sacrifice that burn clean-are fine. Examples of items that burn clean are: flash paper, cotton bags filled with herbs, wooden carvings and paper cranes. Examples of items that don't burn clean are: rubber balls, glass bottles, lawn chairs, tobacco, cigarette butts and shoes. Tobacco is sacred to some, but chemically harmful to others. Check with a staff person or the firekeeper before you go to throw anything into the fire.
• Be aware of, and respectful of, the people sharing the fire with you. This includes things like
  • Don't stand so close to the fire as to crowd the dancers.
  • Don't stand in front of the drummers.
  • Don't add wood to or otherwise mess with the fire unless the designated fire tender invites you to do so.
